Fatty Liver

Fatty liver disease is a condition in which fat builds up in the liver. There are two main types: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and Alcoholic fatty liver disease, also called alcoholic steatohepatitis.
It is a condition also called as Hepatosteatosis.
It includes increased build-up of fat in the liver.

Causes

One of the causes may be excess intake of alcohol in which case it is called alcoholic fatty liver disease.
It can also occur in people not taking alcohol and is then called Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
Another risk factor is Diabetes Mellitus.
Obesity
Having high levels of fat (Triglycerides) in the blood.
Metabolic Syndrome

Symptoms

The symptoms are not clear but may include

Weight loss
Pain in the right upper abdomen
The yellowness of skin/face
Dark urine
Pale stool
Easy bruising or bleeding
Loss of appetite
Fluid builds up in the abdomen (ascites)
Edema in legs/feet

Manage

In most cases, lifestyle changes are sufficient to lessen the extent of liver damage.
Medications may be taken to control other conditions like Diabetes and hypertension and lower the Triglycerides level.
Controlling obesity, and alcohol intake is important in stopping advancement to further stages of liver damage like Hepatitis and Liver cirrhosis.

Approaches

Homeopathic treatment is fruitful in curing the condition if the liver damage is not extensive.
Allopathic treatment may be taken in the form of managing the symptoms and controlling associated conditions.
